A man was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Monday after a construction accident at Harford Community College.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to the scene after receiving a call at about 3:30 p.m., according to Harford County Fire and EMS Association President Rich Gardiner. The cause of the accident is under investigation, but Gardiner said it looked as though the load in the man's Bobcat shifted and fell into the vehicle.

The man was taken by Maryland State Police Medevac with serious lower extremity injuries to shock trauma, according to Gardiner. The fire company had to stabilize the Bobcat before pulling him from the vehicle.

The man was an electrician working on the renovation and expansion of the arena at the college, according to a statement from Turner Construction. The construction company is investigating the circumstances around the incident and cooperating with the investigation conducted by other entities, according to the release. The electrician suffered a leg injury, according to Turner Construction.

Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation spokesperson Shannon Davis said Tuesday that the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health agency would be investigating the incident as well.
