A suburban Chicago man is lucky to be alive after an accident with a power tool.
He is recovering after shooting himself in the head with a nail gun.
Dante Autullo was working on a project Tuesday with a nail gun when it recoiled and knocked into his head.
He found a wound, but couldn't find the nail.
His wife, Gail Glaenzer said, "What he thought had happened was the teeth of the nail gun had got him and he was bleeding a little bit. But what actually happened was when the sensor recognized the surface, it shot the nail right through his brain.
Apparently nothing seemed wrong with Dante.
It wasn't until work the next day when he started to feel nauseous.
He went to the hospital and an x-ray found the nail.
Dante underwent a four-hour surgery to remove it.
He is expected to be okay.
