Roof Collapse Causes Injury to Five Construction Workers

Federal regulators are still in the process of investigating a devastating accident that occurred late in 2011 at an Ocean County construction site. When the dust settled, five workers ended up in the hospital, seeking treatment for a wide variety of workplace injuries.

Fortunately, no one was killed in the construction site mishap. But, the injured workers, some of them put out of work indefinitely, could face a hard road financially without assistance from New Jersey construction accident attorneys who can help them secure the full amount of compensation they deserve.

Roof Trusses Reportedly Gave Way at Ocean County Worksite

The five workers had been erecting a new Quick Chek convenience store in Ocean County when the building's roof collapsed, burying them in rubble. The workers were hospitalized for their injuries, all of them in stable condition shortly after the accident.
However, serious injuries that could prove disastrous to a viable career in the construction industry abounded among the workers. Complaints ranged from broken legs to ongoing chest pains.

A federal investigation is yet to uncover the full story behind the collapse. But, an OSHA spokeswoman preliminarily told the press that it appears the roof trusses gave way, causing the catastrophe.

J.G. Petrucci Co. Inc. was the construction firm building the Quick Chek store. Responsibility for erecting the roof trusses, however, had been delegated to a subcontractor.
