Just before 4pm Sunday afternoon firefighters were called for a man pinned between a building and the vehicle he was working with. Firefighters used air bags to reduce the pressure from the vehicle, stabilized the vehicle and freed the man. They were unable to get a pulse and he was rushed to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport in cardiac arrest.
The operator of a mini-excavator has been killed when he was ejected from his seat and pinned against a house in Bridgeport.
The Connecticut Post and WFSB-TV report that East Side Assistant Fire Chief Dominick Carfi said the department received a call reporting that a man was trapped against a house by a piece of heavy machinery.
Carfi said it appears the operator was not wearing a seat belt and was digging uphill when he was ejected from the excavator. The machine rolled backward, pinning him against the house.
