A construction worker was injured after falling off a scaffolding at the Net-A-Porter headquarters on Darlington Ave. in Mahwah, Police Chief James Batelli said Wednesday.

Sean Turkey, 44, of the Bronx, was working on a construction project at the building when, according to witnesses, “he appeared to misstep and fall head first to the ground where he struck his head on a cement column and concrete walkway,” Batelli said.

Police said the accident occurred at about 10:44 a.m. Wednesday. Police and emergency responders found the man “semi-conscious and in an altered mind state,” Batelli said.

Turkey was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern. As of Wednesday afternoon, his condition was unknown, Batelli said.

According to police, there was no safety equipment on Turkey or in the immediate vicinity at the time of the accident.

The project Turkey was apparently working on was being overseen by general contractor Structuretone of Lyndhurst, Batelli said. Turkey works for the Commodore Construction company of Kenilworth, which was hired as a subcontractor for the project, police said.

Batelli said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was contacted and responded to the scene to inspect for any safety violations.

According to a CoStar.com report, the online retailer Net-a-Porter began renting the building at 725 Darlington Ave. in 2010. The building, which is the former location of Konica Minolta, is used as the company’s headquarters and a warehouse, the report said.

A representative from Commodore Construction said the company was not making any comments about the incident at this time.
