The Kentucky Labor Cabinet says the construction company responsible for the blasting incident in Georgetown is now facing two citations. The company has met with the families affected by the blasting and they are now helping them clean up.
"Right here around Christmas time I was worried about that," says Patti Merriman.
Her family is one of two affected by Monday night's construction accident in Georgetown. Rock blasting at a nearby construction site sent debris flying onto property along Chamberlain Drive. A rock went through Merriman's roof and landed in her bed. Luckily, Merriman was not inside the room when it all happened. A representative from the construction crew has visited Merriman. She says they are going to fix the roof for her.
"They have to repair the roof depending on the trestle. So they have to get an engineer to come out and check and whatever he says, they have to do. Now it may take some time to get it all repaired or just completely a new roof."
The company is facing citations for flying rocks and debris as well as putting nearby property and lives at risk through unsafe practices. The Kentucky Labor Cabinet says the worker responsible for the blast has been suspended.
