Two men were killed in a construction accident in Northeast Atlanta Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened in the 500 block of Glen Iris Drive near Beltline Park just before 1:30 p.m.
According to Atlanta Fire Department Captain Jolyon Bundridge, the two men were on a lift about 40 feet in the air weatherproofing a building at the AMLI Old Fourth Ward apartment complex when the tires of the lift became stuck in the mud.
Bundridge said they tried to free the tires while still on the lift, and with the lift parked on an incline. Their actions caused the lift to fall over.
One man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, the other to Atlanta Medical Center -- both in critical condition. Both men later died. Their identities are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
