A 37-year-old Montgomery County man died Monday as a result of a work-related incident early in the morning in New Market, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
David Garcia of Gaithersburg was run over by a skid loader while he was working at 12801 Old National Pike, Cpl. Scott Blundell said.
The incident happened just before 7:20 a.m. Garcia was treated at the site by emergency responders, Blundell said. He was transported by helicopter to Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was pronounced dead just after noon.
On Monday afternoon, Blundell could not say what had happened during the incident and said it was being investigated as a work-related accident.
“It is not being treated as a criminal incident,” he said.
When contacted on Monday afternoon, an employee at Harland J. Shoemaker and Son Inc., where Garcia was employed, said the company did not have a comment on the incident.
The family of Garcia could not be reached for comment.
