Two construction workers were hospitalized after falling from scaffolding Tuesday morning.

Officials said the John T. Jones Construction Company workers were replacing roof panels inside a tanker at the Papillion Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant.

One worker fell about...

17 feet and suffered a head injury. The other worker was stopped from hitting the ground by a safety harness, but he suffered chest and rib injuries.

Both workers were apparently wearing safety harnesses, but officials are looking into why one worker fell to the ground.

The workers were identified as Jared A. Kirkendall, 27, of Auburn, and John M. Meyers, 44, of Council Bluffs, Iowa. They were both taken to Nebraska Medical Center.

Officials said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified of the incident.
