A 19-year-old construction worker was killed in Barling when a road grader backed over him.

Zack Wells died from injuries he suffered while working on Frontier Road on Monday afternoon.

Wells, who was contracted through Crawford Construction, is believed to have been kneeling down, taking a measurement, when a co-worker accidentally backed the road grader over him.

The crew was at the scene building a facility for the Arkansas State Highway Department.

Wells was transported to a hospital by EMS, according to an official with the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities said Wells’ death was the result of an accident.
