A local homebuilder has some extra work on his hands, after a crane fell on a new home.

The crews were pouring concrete when the accident happened in the 11000 block of Schinz Field.

Workers tell us the crane operator was in the process of...

moving the huge, stabilizing feet that support the crane. That’s when the arm toppled over, taking the entire rig with it, striking the home next door.

The driver suffered some minor injuries when the rig fell to the side.

No one was inside the home, but the owners will return to thousands of dollars in damage to the house. The crane’s arm went through the neighbor’s stone façade, insulation and some of the support beams.

Neighbors said it's a good thing there’s no rain in the forecast anytime soon. But sadly, they added, the homeowners had just moved in.

“We were just saying that we felt really bad for the people. If it had been my house, I would’ve been just heartbroken,” said neighbor Anna Schermann.

The street was blocked off while the crane was being up righted.
